ABOUT THE BUILD

Some projects just have a will power. With standing water on the site and the only suitable soils to build on 45’ deep – the owner never gave up. We drilled a foundation 50’ deep and built the house on feet of stone to get a sturdy pad to build from. This project was passive house inspired with double stud walls, triple pane windows, aero-barrier air-sealing, Brink ERV continuous ventilation, and no gas ran to the house at all. This home was designed to be easily net-zero with the installation of solar panels. The design was inspired to be simple, yet break the form of a conventional home. Overlooking the arboretum, we used three simple mono-pitch roofs with three angles & elevations to mimic stacked river stone.
